Concussion Management

Concussions are traumatic brain injuries caused by direct or indirect damage to the head. Initial signs and symptoms may be as apparent as cuts and lacerations on the head or the temporary loss of consciousness, but long-term damage often requires the expertise of a trained medical professional to diagnose and treat.

Feit Physiotherapy offers professional treatment for concussions caused by:

  • Accidental Slips and Falls
  • Workplace Injuries
  • Sports Injuries
  • Traumatic Contact to the Head

Living with a concussion can be a difficult process, but with proper care and treatment, a patient's quality of life – including physical capability, mood, cognitive function, and sleep – can be drastically improved.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

When there is a deficit of the vestibular system, via disease, injury or the ageing process, the brain can no longer rely on the inner ear for accurate information about movement. As such, a person’s ability to maintain posture or balance can be difficult. Dizziness, vertigo and nausea may also occur due to mismatched input from the eyes and ears to the brain.

Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) teaches the brain to compensate for these error signals, thereby reducing symptoms of dizziness and vertigo, while also improving balance and gait. VRT includes manual therapy for conditions such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, but it also includes an individualized exercise program designed to alleviate a client’s specific symptoms.

Physiotherapists at Feit Physiotherapy are trained to treat vestibular symptoms related to:

  • BPPV
  • Cervicogenic Dizziness
  • Vestibular Neuritis
  • Labyrinthitis/Inner Ear Infection
  • Ototoxicity
  • Age-Related Changes
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
